Dr. C. Gustavo De Moraes is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmic Sciences and the Director of Clinical Trials at Columbia University Medical Center. His primary research interests are in novel techniques for glaucoma diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. De Moraes completed a Glaucoma fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary (NYEEI), followed by many years as Head of Research at the Einhorn Clinical Research Center of the NYEEI and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at New York University (NYU).

Dr. De Moraes is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Glaucoma Society (AGS), and World Glaucoma Association (WGA). He has been invited as guest-speaker to numerous international conferences, including visiting professor at Harvard Medical School and Cornell Medical College, and has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. De Moraes serves as reviewer for the top journals in Ophthalmology and is the section-editor of journals such as Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology, Asia Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology, and Translational Vision Science and Technology. He has authored many book chapters in Ophthalmology and Glaucoma, and co-authored the Consensus on Medical Treatment of Glaucoma and Consensus on Glaucoma Progression of the World Glaucoma Association (WGA).

Dr. De Moraes has served as member of the Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) of randomized clinical trials in glaucoma and is a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Columbia University Medical Center. He has received various nationally-recognized awards and research grants for his work.
