Application Process

Candidates for the residency program are selected based on academic merit, personal and professional integrity, a demonstrated interest/experience in the field of ophthalmology, and a desire to provide outstanding eye care as part of a broader team of physicians and allied health care professionals.

All application materials must be submitted through the Central Application Service (CAS). For more information, please contact:

Central Application Services – San Francisco Matching Program (SF Match)
P.O. Box 45161
San Francisco, CA 94145-0161

International medical graduates and non-US citizens must have a J1 visa, O visa, or permanent resident (“Green Card”) status, as New York-Presbyterian Hospital does not accept the H1B visa. An application for the J1 visa can be found at the ECFMG website.

After a completed application has been received from SF Match and reviewed by a committee of clinical and scientific faculty, select candidates will be contacted for interviews via email typically about 1 month prior to the interview dates.

This year, residency interviews will be held Thursday and Friday, November 17th and 18th, 2016 (all day).

Following the interviews, applicants will be ranked by the interviewing committee.
