Age-Related Macular Degeneration Genetics Study A major goal of this work is to better characterize specific risk factors for macular degeneration. As these risk factors are identified, more specific preventative and treatment therapies can be developed for patients with macular degeneration. This work is especially important for future generations of current patients with macular degeneration. Laser Vision Correction of Farsightedness (Hyperopia) with Astigmatism The Columbia University Department of Ophthalmology is the only institution in the tri-state area participating in a national multi-center research study to determine the safety and effectiveness of laser vision correction in individuals with hyperopia (farsightedness). |
